FF&E & Fitted Joinery project in 3 Robert Street, London

Private Members' Lounge

Located within a prestigious London address, the Robert Street Lounge is a masterclass in atmospheric transformation, breathing new life into a grand period room to create a premier destination for networking and private hospitality. The project elevates the gravitas of its historical setting through a meticulous blend of rich, tactile textures and bespoke architectural joinery, resulting in an environment that is both grand in scale and intimate in feel. By marrying heritage charm with high-specification modern luxury, the design provides an exclusive sanctuary tailored to the exacting standards of a discerning clientele.
The primary challenge lay in reconciling the rigid, formal constraints of a traditional period room—defined by high ceilings, ornate cornicing, and a stately marble fireplace—with the requirements of a vibrant, multi-functional social hub. We needed to navigate the transition between the room’s historic shell and a new interior intervention so the result felt intentional rather than a mere juxtaposition. The layout further required a delicate balance between diverse modes of interaction, necessitating a space that could seamlessly shift from a quiet corner for reflection to a central, high-energy focal point for social engagement.
Our strategy centered on a 'Modern Classic' aesthetic, anchoring the room with a deep jewel-toned palette of teal and burgundy leathers set against bespoke dark-wood cabinetry. The focal point is a custom-commissioned bar featuring etched geometric glass and hand-hammered metal hardware, which introduces a layer of Art Deco glamour while reflecting the room’s volume. To finish, we implemented a sophisticated, layered lighting scheme—balancing contemporary linear fixtures with warm, low-level table lamps—to define distinct seating zones and highlight the artisanal craftsmanship of the custom-engineered brass and timber elements.
Hand-finished dark timber cabinetry paired with a premium marble countertop and custom-etched geometric glass panels.
A sophisticated mix of deep-buttoned Chesterfield sofas and wingback armchairs in rich teal and oxblood leather.
Custom-fabricated hammered metal joinery handles and precision-engineered industrial bar rails for a bespoke finish.
A harmonious blend of architectural linear lighting and warm, low-level accent lamps to define different zones.
Expert preservation of the original marble fireplace and ornate plasterwork, complemented by high-specification light oak parquet flooring.
